Health & Human Services

Prior to serving in the Legislature, Senator Pou spent 12 years as the Director of Human Services for the City of Paterson.

In that capacity, she oversaw programs in the state's third largest city to improve residents' health and wellness. This includes programs to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS and to provide information on aging and nutrition.

Her time as director has given Senator Pou intimate personal and professional knowledge of New Jersey's health and human service delivery systems, enabling her to better address the specific healthcare needs of women, children, and seniors.

In this video, Pou speaks at a breast cancer prevention/detection event that she co-sponsored with the Pink Breast Center of Paterson. The event offered uninsured women the opportunity to have mammographies.
